Rewards & Specialty Programs

Upon completion of the Junior Ranger program, participants receive an award to recognize their achievement  In addition, some parks and sites offer Specialty Junior Ranger Programs which result in Specialized Rewards.

Rewards

As previously stated, upon completion of the Junior Ranger program, participants will receive an award to commemorate their achievement. The type of award you receive varies from park to park. Some may give you only one award, while others may give two or three items. For example, you may receive only a badge or only a patch. Or maybe you’ll receive a badge and a certificate or a patch and a certificate. Sometimes all three!
At some parks, the award you receive varies based on your age group or how many activities you complete in your booklet. It all depends on which park you are visiting and the rules and requirements of their individual programs.
A list follows of the most frequently awarded items.
Badge - This is the standard award for the Junior Ranger program. You will almost always receive a badge. You are also very likely to receive a certificate along with the badge, and in some cases, a patch as well.
Patch - You are likely to receive a patch instead of a badge. Sometimes patches can be paired with badges and/or certificates. Some parks also offer patches based on the age group or the amount of activities completed. Also, some sites offer patches for purchase.
Certificates - You are very likely to receive a certificate upon completion of the program. Like the badge, the certificate is pretty standard. Most likely your certificate will be found in the back of your activity booklet (last page); however some parks have separate certificates.
Specialty Certificates - Some parks have Specialty Certificates. For example, if you complete the Junior Ranger program at both Jamestown and Yorktown (both part of Colonial NHP), you will receive a special certificate to commemorate your achievement.
Pins - Some parks and programs offer pins upon completion of their program. An example is the Junior Trail Ranger program. Some of those programs offer various pins for each trail you complete.

specialty programs & rewards

In addition to the regular programs offered by the National Park Services, some parks will offer specialty programs (sometimes seasonally) with specialty rewards. These programs are similar to the regular Junior Ranger program. A list of the ones known to me follows.
